First Insights into the Large Genome of Epimedium sagittatum (Sieb. et Zucc) Maxim, a Chinese Traditional Medicinal Plant
Epimedium sagittatum (Sieb. et Zucc) Maxim is a member of the Berberidaceae family of basal eudicot plants, widely distributed and used as a traditional medicinal plant in China for therapeutic effects on many diseases with a long history. Recent data shows that E. sagittatum has a relatively large genome, with a haploid genome size of ~4496 Mbp, divided into a small number of only 12 diploid c...
متن کاملNetwork Systems Underlying Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome and Herb Formula
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is characterized by regulating the integrity of the human body and has accumulated thousand-year experience in the use of Herb Formula (“Fu-Fang” in Chinese) for managing complicated TCM Syndrome (“ZHENG” in Chinese). In recent years, there has been increasing concern about the application of bioinformatics and systems biology approaches for deciphering the sc...
متن کاملFlavonol glycosides from Epimedium pubescens.
Five new flavonol glycosides (1, 3, 5-7) were isolated from the aerial parts of Epimedium pubescens Maxim., along with two known compounds, sagittasine C (2) and 4',5-dihydroxyl-8-(3,3-dimethylallyl)-flavonol 3-O-[β-D-xylopyranosyl(1→3)-4-O-acetyl-α-L-rhamnopyranoside]-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4). The structures were elucidated on the basis of their 1D-, 2D-NMR, MS, UV and IR spectra data.
متن کاملVariation of medicinal components in a unique geographical accession of horny goat weed Epimedium sagittatum Maxim. (Berberidaceae).
Herbal Epimedium species have been widely in Traditional Chinese Medicine for sexual enhancement, immunity improvement, anticancer and anti-aging treatment, with flavonoids and polysaccharides being the major active components. However, exhaustive depletion of wild sources warrants germplasm evaluation and quality resource exploration. A preliminarily analysis had previously indicated that a sp...
متن کاملA taxonomic revision of three Chinese spurless species of genus Epimedium L. (Berberidaceae)
Due to some common or similar features (e.g., small leaf, spurless, yellow flower), three Chinese species of the genus Epimedium (Berberidaceae), E. ecalcaratum, E. platypetalum, and E. campanulatum, are controversial based on morphological characteristics. In the present study, the descriptions of morphological characteristics for the three species were revised based on extensive studies and o...
